Orienteering in Portugal
Competitions, trainings and
vacations
After the
World Championships for Veterans which took place in the Marinha
Grande region in July, 2008, there are many new nice maps to train on.
On the 13th of February - 16th of February 2010 there will be a big international competition about 30 minutes north from Marinha Grande.
The Portugal 4-days POM, also with WRE. We will arrange accommodation for you at the competition
This is a central region in the country, at about
half-way between Lisbon (130 Km) and Porto (180 Km), with excellent
accessibility from any of these cities (A1 and A8 Highways).
Located near the Atlantic Ocean, this region has a
fair variety of vegetation types, but the famous "Leiria's Pinewood
Forest" is the predominating one, all along the seaside. Beach,
forest, field and mountain: four possibilities of choice, associated to a
very mild weather in the wintertime.

The green area is where the training camp is situated.

For a region with a 100 Km perimeter, there are about 50 Km2
represented in orienteering maps.

Distances:
5 minutes from the bungalows and 15 minutes from the hotel
Of course, the training camps will be open to
everyone willing to attend and not only for those planning to compete.

Person (adult) who is not doing orienteering: 40 euro per night

- Lodging
- Rent-a-car (minimum 3 persons)
- 2-3 training events/maps per day
- Sportident trainings (occasionally)
- The price also includes the participation in 2
stages of Portugal "O" Meeting or the WRE the week after.
